Dhaka: The interim government headed by Dr Yunus has lifted the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and its student wing.
In the notification issued by the government, it was said that the allegations of involvement in terrorism against Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization Chhatro Shabar could not be proved.
According to the notification, the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing has been revoked.
It should be noted that the government of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid banned Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body under the Anti-Terrorism Act in August, accusing it of involvement in terrorist activities.
It should be noted that Sheikh Hasina Wajid resigned from the Prime Ministership on August 5 and fled the country, after which an interim government was established under the leadership of Dr. Yunus, nominated by the student movement.
